I love great quotes. From the late, great, Maya Angelou, “When you know better, you do better” to the “Be the change you wish to see in the world“ of Gandhi, they both had it right. Change is inevitable, and you can either ride on top of the wave, or watch it crash into you.
In my world, change was demanded. I did what I knew...and spent two years on the autoimmune diagnosis hamster wheel. I really thought that I would get an answer, make some changes, and move on. Well, as many of you know, it is nowhere near that simple. So I made a bunch of healthy changes, and those changes helped for awhile, but you have to roll with the changes and keep changing.
I even swam an iron distance race (2.4 miles of open water), and ran a marathon (26.2 miles) during that time! But the goal checklist got ahead of my actual health. I pushed too hard, trained in bad shape, over stressed, exhausted, and hurt. And I got sick 2 days after my race and it lasted nearly 4 months to feel better, but then I was way undertrained for a huge relay race only 2 months later.
And it did not go well. My ankle literally broke, physically. I had been waiting for the physical problem, and it sucked, but what I wasn’t expecting was for both the mental and emotional pieces that got dragged down while waiting for surgery and then nearly 2 years to heal and an Epstein Barre attack, when I didn’t even know I had Epstein Barre.
It never even dawned on me that those pieces would take a hit too. It sounds so naive now, but they took a huge hit. So from all my struggles over the two years, I learned which pieces fit together and how to put them in order to get myself unstuck.
The best example I can think of are those awesome Clydesdales lined up to pull that famous wagon (you know, the one with the awesome ads every SuperBowl). Those horses are pure power, but unless they are harnessed they can wander off everywhere. But once they get harnessed, they all start to pull in the same direction, and they are incredibly powerful. Then under the leadership of the person guiding them, they are unstoppable as a team!
We’re not all that different. When we focus the power of the physical body to harness the mind (that’s been stuck in an infinite loop), using the right tools we can get unstuck. Honestly, the power of the human mind is infinite. If you can get the emotional piece right as the final component, there is nothing we can’t do. Think of it, in less than 70 years we went from the Wright Brothers to Neil Armstrong in the world of aviation. Literally, once you get all your horses lined up, you can do anything you set your mind to! Health changes, career changes, lifestyle changes, whatever you want can truly be yours.
Now I don’t want to make this sound like it is easy. There is work to be done, but when you have the sequence right, with a plan and support, you can make whatever change you wish to see, or need to be in this new world.
So how do you start? We work with a series of movements, and employ techniques from Neuroscience to break through blockages, add meditation to focus, and the pure magic of essential oils to help with emotions and literally you can be the change you want to see in this world after all.
